Resumen

Durante los últimos treinta años se habría ido produciendo un desplazamiento de los enfoques en el campo de estudios de las migraciones, desde un considerar a los inmigrantes como individuos de ciertos colectivos atrapados pasivamente entre condicionamientos internos homogéneos y condicionamientos estructurales comunes a un considerarles además como individuos activos intervinientes en el devenir de su propio destino y, últimamente, a un considerarles como miembros de redes de relación que les hacen desbordar los parámetros de su individualidad, pudiendo con ello crear nuevas unidades de convivencia en los países a que acceden, lo cual transformaría las estructuras sociales de éstos. Decisiva para la aparición de estas transformaciones sería la específica manera de acomodarse en los países de destino la llamada “segunda generación” o generación de los hijos de inmigrantes.

Abstract

During the last thirty years there has been a shift in the approaches used within the sphere of research on migration from considering immigrants as indivuals belonging to certain groups passively trapped between homogeneous internal determinants and common structural determining factors to also considering them as individuals actively involved in the evolution of their own destiny and, lastly, to considering them as members of networks which make them go beyond the limits of their individuality and allow them to create new units for living together in the countries in which they settle, which in their turn would transform the social structures in these countries. The specific way in which the so called “second generation”, or generation of the children of immigrants, accomodates itself in the countries of destination would be decisive in the emergence of these transformations.
