EL PATRIMONIO CULTURAL INMATERIAL DESDE UNA VISIÓN TOTALIZADORA DE LA CULTURA
Intangible cultural heritage from a totalizing conception of culture

Resumen: Estamos asistiendo actualmente a una gran intensificación del interés por el patrimonio cultural inmaterial (PCI), tanto a nivel internacional como nacional, que se ha ido materializando a partir de la Convención Internacional para la Salvaguardia del Patrimonio Inmaterial de 2003 de la UNESCO, que ahora cumple 10 años. En este contexto práctico, de desarrollo de políticas de gestión y de proliferación de acciones en torno a la protección del PCI, se hace necesaria la reflexión teórica en torno al significado de la memoria colectiva y al patrimonio cultural inmaterial. En este artículo se demostrará que las expresiones de la cultura popular son complejas y frágiles, y preservarlas y conservarlas es una tarea muy delicada y difícil en la que intervienen factores y agentes muy diversos que hay que tener en cuenta desde una alteridad respetuosa con sus propios ritmos y contextos.

Abstract: We are currently witnessing a great intensification of the interest in intangible cultural heritage (ICH), both nationally and internationally, that has became a reality since the ratification of UNESCO 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, ten years ago. In this practical context of development and management policy and proliferation of actions for protecting the ICH, theoretical reflection of the meaning of collective memory and intangible cultural heritage is necessery. In this article we will prove that the expressions of popular culture are complex and fragile, and that their preservation and conservation is a delicate and difficult task which involves many factors and agents that must be taken into account from a vision of otherness which is respectful with rhythms and contexts.
