Resumen
El texto aborda el proceso de conversión del general Francisco Franco en un dictador soberano y constituyente en el contexto de la guerra civil española de 1936-1939. Analiza las características de su condición de “Caudillo” con poderes casi absolutos y las formas evolutivas del régimen construido sobre tres pilares institucionales: el Ejército que ganó la guerra y garantizó la victoria, la Iglesia católica que aportó su sanción doctrinal religiosa y la Falange como partido único del Estado. También aborda el debate sobre la naturaleza del franquismo y su larga evolución temporal en contextos internacionales muy diferentes y contrastados.

Abstract
This text attempts to review how general Francisco Franco became a dictator with sovereign powers in the context of the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. The examination includes the characteristics of his supreme condition of “Caudillo” (Charismatic Leader) and the evolution of his regime based on three institutional pillars: an Army which won the war and guaranteed the victory afterwards, a Catholic Church with its religious blessing and a Falange as official State Party. The content also involves the debate on the “nature” of Francoism and its long temporal evolution in so many and different international contexts.
