The two main axis of European policies in the Europarties manifestos for the 2009 elections

Resumen: Esta investigación interpreta las posiciones de los siete principales europartidos en los dos grandes ejes de la política europea que pivotan, de un lado, en el continuum derecha/ izquierda y, de otro, en las opciones intergubernamentales o supranacionales de tales actores políticos. Se analizan los ítems fundamentales de los manifiestos presentados a las elecciones de 2009 para el Parlamento Europeo que se han ordenado y evaluado sistemáticamente. Se constata que hay más congruencia ideológica de los europartidos en el primer eje que en el segundo.

Abstract: This research interprets the positions of the seven major Europarties in the two main concepts of European policy that pivot, on the one hand, on the right/left continuum and, on the other, on the intergovernmental or supranational options of these political actors. It analyses the key items of the manifestos presented for the 2009 elections to the European Parliament that have been systematically ordered and evaluated. It is noted that there is more ideological conformity in the Europarties in the first concept than in the second.
