Resumen

Como en la mayor parte de países europeos, en España el número de naciomientos fuera del matrimonio ha aumentado constantemente durante las últimas décadas. Si a mediados de los años setenta estos nacimientos constituían 1,5 por 100 del total, en 2001 representan una quinta parte. En una proporción creciente de casos se trata de nacimientos en el seno de parejas de hecho, pero los nacimientos de mujeres que no viven en pareja son todavía numerosos. Estos niños son víctimas de condiciones de existencia desfavorables, como lo revela, por ejemplo, el exceso de permaturidad y de mortinatalidad. Una política social específica en su dirección debería tomar el relevo de la reforma jurídica de la filiación de los años ochenta, cuyos efectos, benéficos en su tiempo, se revelan insuficientes.

Abstract

As in most European countries, the number of births out of marriages has steadily increased in Spain along the last few decades. In the middle of the seventies these births were 1,5% of the total, while in 2001 they represent up to 20%. The rate is increasing in births within consensual unions, but births from women not engaged in couples are still numerous. Among of these children, some are suffering unfavourable living conditions, as shown by their late fetal overmortality and prematurity. It is definitively required a specific social polity that will overcome the legal reform on the children filiation during the eighties that was beneficial on that time, but that now has been revealed as insuficient.
