Gregorio Peces-Barba: In Memoriam (Annotations of legal, ethical and political philosophy)

Resumen: En recuerdo de nuestro bueno amigo y compañero Gregorio Peces-Barba, recientemente fallecido, se resaltan aquí algunas de sus básicas aportaciones como profesor e investigador en el campo de la filosofía jurídica, ética y política. Como intelectual crítico y político comprometido en la construcción de la España civil, laica y democrática, estaría su posición frente a tres actuales políticas consideradas por él como patologías que deforman y distorsionan la democracia: una, en el ámbito territorial, sería el nacionalismo radical que puede conducir a un muy perjudicial soberanismo independentista; dos, el fundamentalismo teocrático que pretende imponer su verdad y su moral eclesial contra las resoluciones del Parlamento y de la soberanía popular allí representada; tres, Gregorio Peces-Barba socialista, frente al pensamiento único neoconservador del actual capitalismo financiero, negador de los derechos sociales, económicos y culturales, una ideología donde la soberanía oligárquica de los mercados trata a toda costa de debilitar y subordinar a la soberanía democrática de los Estados.

Abstract: In memory of our good friend and companion Gregorio Peces-Barba, recently deceased, some of his basic contributions as professor and researcher in the field of legal, ethical and political philosophy are highlighted here. As a critic intellectual and politic, committed in the construction of a civil, secular and democratic Spain, his position would be facing three current politics, considered by him as pathologies that deform and distort democracy: one) in the territorial scope, radical nationalism that could lead to a very harmful independence sovereignism; two) the theocratic fundamentalism that pretends to impose its truth and its ecclesiastic moral against the Parliament’s resolutions and the popular sovereignty represented there; three) Gregorio Peces-Barba socialist, versus the unique neoconservative thinking of the current financial capitalism, denier of social, economic and cultural rights, an ideology where the oligarchic sovereignty of the markets try by any cost to weaken and subordinate the democratic sovereignty of the States.
