Resumen
A partir de la documentación conservada en el Archivo de la editorial FCE completada con una serie de referencias bibliográficas, se analiza el proceso que llevó a la instalación de la sucursal en España y la situación de la actividad editora, controlada desde los tiempos de la Guerra Civil por una férrea censura. Se profundiza en el análisis del pulso mantenido por la sucursal durante la etapa de Javier Pradera como gerente con los responsables de la censura en el Ministerio de Información y Turismo para conseguir la aprobación de los libros del catálogo del FCE y de las novedades. En un último epígrafe se alude a la crisis de los años 1966 y 1967 tras la promulgación de la Ley de Prensa y el cambio en la Dirección del FCE y en la Gerencia de la filial.

Abstract
Based on the documentation preserved in the FCE Publishing Archive, supplemented by a series of bibliographical references, this article analyzes the process that led to the installation of the subsidiary in Spain and the situation of the publishing activity, which had been controlled by strict censorship since the Civil War. It goes deeper into the discussion of the struggle maintained by the branch office during Javier Pradera’s time as manager with those responsible for censorship at the Ministry of Information and Tourism to secure approval for the books in the FCE catalog and for new releases. A final section refers to the crisis of 1966 and 1967 following the enactment of the Press Law and the change in the leadership of FCE and the subsidiary.
