Resumen

Este artículo aborda los grandes temas pendientes para la X Legislatura del Parlamento Europeo (2024-2029), enfatizando cuáles son los desafíos que afrontar en los próximos años. En primer lugar, se habla de la necesidad de ir a votar en las elecciones al Parlamento Europeo del 6-9 de junio de 2024. A continuación, se desarrolla la necesidad de pasar del federalismo de facto al federalismo de iure a través de una reforma de los Tratados. Asimismo, se estudia la necesidad de hacer frente a las diez solicitudes de adhesión de la UE. Por último, en este artículo se aborda el refuerzo de la cohesión entre los Estados miembros y el desarrollo de la política exterior y de seguridad y defensa para hacer frente a la agresión rusa a Ucrania y a la guerra en Gaza.

Abstract

This article addresses the major pending issues for the 10th term of European Parliament (2024-2029), emplhasizing which are the challenges to be faced in the upcoming years. First, it discusses the need to vote in the European Parliament elections of June 6-9, 2024. Then, the need to move from de facto federalism to de jure federalism through a reform of the Treaties is developed. It also examines theneed to cope with the EU’s ten applications for membership. Finally, it addresses the strengthening of cohesión between Member States and the development of foreign, security and defence policy to deal with the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the war in Gaza.
