Resumen

Este artículo destaca la importancia de los movimientos sociales en el proceso de transición desde la dictadura franquista a la democracia en España, prestando especial atención al papel de las asociaciones de vecinos. Así, frente al relato que otorgaba todo el protagonismo a las elites institucionales o el de quienes han pretendido deslegitimar el proceso como si hubiera sido un maquillaje del franquismo, este texto refuerza el modelo interpretativo que destaca el rol de la ciudadanía en la lucha para la conquista de las libertades.

Abstract

This article highlights the importance of social movements in the transition from Franco’s dictatorship to democracy in Spain, with special attention to the role of neighborhood associations. Thus, in contrast to the narrative that attributed all protagonism to institutional elites, or to that of those who have sought to delegitimize the process as merely a cosmetic rebranding of Francoism, this article reinforces the interpretative model that highlights the role of ordinary citizens in the struggle for the achievement of freedoms.
